Using my research, I explored multiple ways to capture the different elements of the elephant.

I explored two of my sketches. I tried iterations of different elements like the feet, trunks, and eyes.

Final mark
I mostly drew from my second option but adjusted elements like the trunk, eyes, and white lines.

Next, I incorporated the mark into a larger composition, including a phrase. I created a list of elephant qualities and used it to create the phrase.

The black and white lines tended to be distracting, and providing space in front of the elephant gives it room to breathe.
